SAIT Polytechnic enhances Digital Signage Network with 8 Screen Feature Wall

Since 2006, SAIT Polytechnic has developed and implemented a campus wide digital signage communication tool known as SAITVIEW. SAITVIEW has proven to be one of the most effective ways of communicating information about campus activities to students, faculty and staff.

SAIT’s Communications Department determined it was time to take the system to the next level. Sharp's Audio Visual was asked to design a feature wall to showcase an interesting array of screens that would capture the imagination and attention of the campus community. The feature wall needed to accomplish four primary objectives:

  1. Utilize eight existing screens that SAIT had in their inventory
  2. Be unique and captivating
  3. Operate within SAIT's current digital signage infrastructure
  4. Be able to show rich motion content seamlessly across all screens

The Solution:

The eight screens were placed tightly together in an abstract pattern, five of the screens in landscape mode and three in portrait mode. Omnivex Moxie (Microsoft's 2010 Blue Sky Award Winning Software) was employed to add the spark to the context of SAIT’s vision. Seamless motion across all screens as a single image is possible as is dividing the image into any number of screens at any time, by using Omnivex Moxie. The result is a dynamic feature wall that captivates and informs all passersby and meets all of the stated objectives.
