The First Day of School (Not!) - (25-08-2010)

Today is officially the first day back to school.  Well, not for me, but for my former colleagues.

I can't believe that this marks the SECOND first day back to school that I'm not officially a part of.  Perhaps it's time for a reflection on how my life has changed in the past 14 months in the P.T. era (post-teaching...not to be confused with "T.P." which stands for something entirely different...)

But alas, this reflection on my new direction in life will have to wait another day.  I'm heading out to the Battle River Learning Institute this morning to lead some SMART Board workshops with various people in their school division.  Can't wait!

So in honour of today's "Back to School" theme, I thought I'd share one of my favourite new commercials that centres around this topic.  Enjoy!

It is still a weird phenomenon, Kelly! One of these days I'll actually write a full reflection :)

Dez - glad to hear that your workshop went well last week!! Good luck with the start up of school, and please feel free to email me if you need more resources or have questions! =)

Hi Vanessa,
The energy and excitement of the beginning of the school years is invigorating, but the to do list just seems to get longer.
My workshop went well yesterday. Your name came up a few times and I was again grateful for your help. Focusing on getting ready for Day one now. I really could use another week, as always :)
Good to hear your workshops are going well.

This was my first PT first day of school. Very strange not to be getting my classroom ready. I'm hoping your reflection post talks about how it got easier the second year around?

A classroom educator for 10 years, I’m now thrilled to be working full time training teachers and helping them integrate technology into their classrooms.

Originally from Calgary, I’m thrilled to be living and working in British Columbia and starting to get to know the fabulous educators in my new province.

I fully confess that I am a tech-geek, and thus always brought technology into the classroom with my students. As soon as I got my hands on my first SMART product – I was a convert – and never taught without one again! I was fortunate to be part of several technical trials with SMART – including the SMART Table, which I enjoyed using primarily with my Grade One students.

I spent some time as an Education Technology Consultant and developed my passion for bringing technology into the hands of kids & helping teachers to maximize the tech tools within their schools.

I also love sports, movies and am a classically trained singer.
