Have You Fully Explored SMART Notebook's Gallery? Tip #2 - (05-05-2010)

Welcome to Part 2 of my series focusing on taking a closer look at the Gallery items in SMART Notebook. (see the preamble here)

The "word generator" is an interactive tool that is hidden with the Lesson Activity Toolkit 2.0.  Insert it into a Notebook page, then click the double arrows in the top left corner to customize the activity.  Enter up to 15 words, and choose what animated character you want to appear on the front page (my image shows a frog).

When the students click on the animation, they "spit out" one of the words, then students can click on the arrow to insert those words into Notebook if necessary.

Enter vocabulary words for a quick review, input character traits and challenge students to guess the character with the least amount of traits given or put in various Math equations for students to practice basic math skills.

As with any interactive item, the options are as endless as the imaginations of the teachers and the application of these items works best when a small group of students work on this activity at one time.

A classroom educator for 10 years, I’m now thrilled to be working full time training teachers and helping them integrate technology into their classrooms.

Originally from Calgary, I’m thrilled to be living and working in British Columbia and starting to get to know the fabulous educators in my new province.

I fully confess that I am a tech-geek, and thus always brought technology into the classroom with my students. As soon as I got my hands on my first SMART product – I was a convert – and never taught without one again! I was fortunate to be part of several technical trials with SMART – including the SMART Table, which I enjoyed using primarily with my Grade One students.

I spent some time as an Education Technology Consultant and developed my passion for bringing technology into the hands of kids & helping teachers to maximize the tech tools within their schools.

I also love sports, movies and am a classically trained singer.
