Fresh Look Fridays -- Virtual Art Gallery - (14-05-2010)

Today's Fresh Look Fridays post features a virtual, panoramic art gallery -- similar to the panoramas website that I reviewed a few weeks ago.

vrview

VrView is a great little website that can be pretty impressive when used in conjunction with an iwb.  Students can 'walk' through an art gallery by pressing and dragging on the SMART Board.

When they find a piece of art that they're more interested in, they simply click on that painting and presto! That individual piece of artwork ALSO becomes a panoramic image that they can navigate through!

What a great way to get a group of students up and out of their seats, and let them take control while they navigate through various pieces of art.  I've heard of teachers using this for units in Art class where students need to mimic a particular style of painting.  Being able to enlarge the paintings and 'walk' through the details of each piece of artwork can make this task that much easier.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Vanessa

Thanks girls! And Kelly -- I love the idea of using this website for writing prompts! I hadn't thought of that before :)

Okay, this is seriously cool! I am thinking this would also be a great website to inspire some creative writing.

What a visually beautiful way to bring art into the classroom! I love it when we can use technology to give our students experiences that they wouldn't otherwise be able to have. I'm collecting music and art activities, manipulatives and games to add to StarrMatica this summer, so thank you for sharing this great site!

A classroom educator for 10 years, I’m now thrilled to be working full time training teachers and helping them integrate technology into their classrooms.

Originally from Calgary, I’m thrilled to be living and working in British Columbia and starting to get to know the fabulous educators in my new province.

I fully confess that I am a tech-geek, and thus always brought technology into the classroom with my students. As soon as I got my hands on my first SMART product – I was a convert – and never taught without one again! I was fortunate to be part of several technical trials with SMART – including the SMART Table, which I enjoyed using primarily with my Grade One students.

I spent some time as an Education Technology Consultant and developed my passion for bringing technology into the hands of kids & helping teachers to maximize the tech tools within their schools.

I also love sports, movies and am a classically trained singer.
