Committing to Technology in Education -- One Great Example - (01-06-2010)

DSBN

I've mentioned the DSBN (District School Board of Niagara) in my blog before, namely here after spending some time leading SMART Board workshops with their wonderful educators.  Recently, a link was shared with me to a YouTube video showing just how committed this school board is to implementing engaging technologies within their classrooms.  I figured that this was worth a bit of a shout out to their school board, as well as some air-time with their video below.

For those keeping track, the gentleman in the suit demonstrating the newest SMART Table is none other than Ron Boyer (one of our Sharp's Audio Visual employees in Toronto).  Way to go, Ron! :)  Near the end of the video, our President and CEO Jeff Faber is shown behind the podium and putting his official signature on the documentation. Yay, Jeff!

I loved the short time that I got to spend working with the DSBN's teachers and think that they have some great leaders working towards integrating technology into their classrooms.  This video clearly shows their commitment to technology in education!

A classroom educator for 10 years, I’m now thrilled to be working full time training teachers and helping them integrate technology into their classrooms.

Originally from Calgary, I’m thrilled to be living and working in British Columbia and starting to get to know the fabulous educators in my new province.

I fully confess that I am a tech-geek, and thus always brought technology into the classroom with my students. As soon as I got my hands on my first SMART product – I was a convert – and never taught without one again! I was fortunate to be part of several technical trials with SMART – including the SMART Table, which I enjoyed using primarily with my Grade One students.

I spent some time as an Education Technology Consultant and developed my passion for bringing technology into the hands of kids & helping teachers to maximize the tech tools within their schools.

I also love sports, movies and am a classically trained singer.
